elaine tedesco | klaus w. eisenlohrponto de não retornoOpening Reception Exhibition ESPM Espaço Cultural The exhibition Ponto de Não Retorno (Point of No Return) will start on Saturday, May 12 at ESPM Cultural Space, in Porto Alegre. With work in photography and video, the show presents ongoing projects that these two artists have proceeded in parallel in Germany and Brazil since 2015. Klaus W. Eisenlohr's Praças do sul do Brasil (Plazas of Southern Brazilian) are an extract of the project that the artist has been developing in Porto Alegre and other cities of Rio Grande do Sul. The photographs are showing squares and open spaces. The project is a result of his previous works, such as Familiar Spaces, which started in 2000, subsequent to his Master's degree at The Art Institute of Chicago in the United States. Since then his focus has been on the public spaces, their uses, their problems and the green areas that still resist urbanization. Eisenlohr will present a series of night panoramic photographs taken with negatives and medium format cameras in long exposure time, as well as digital photographs of the same series. Elaine Tedesco presents excerpts from two series of the same period: Vanitas in the garden in which the process involves taking printed photographs, which are part of her own collection, and which were previously exhibited, to the garden of her house. The images are rephotographed, thus becoming records of the erasure of these images. In the other series - Das ações com a câmera (From the actions with the camera) - the artist resumes her investigations with multiple exposures of images, made in the years 2001/2003, resulting in the book Sobreposições Imprecisas (Impossible Overlays). For this exhibition, Tedesco took double exposures in a Jewish cemetery in Berlin. Adding exposures in Porto Alegre, she creates a reference to the proximity of the ESPM Cultural Space with the Jewish cemetery (which is situated across the street). http://kw-eisenlohr.de/ |

Eisenlohr Tem início no dia 12 de maio (sábado) no Espaço cultural ESPM, em Porto Alegre, a exposição Ponto de não retorno. Com trabalhos em fotografia e vídeo, a mostra traz um recorte da produção que esses dois artistas vem realizando em paralelo na Alemanha e no Brasil, desde 2015. Praças do Sul do Brasil de Klaus W. Eisenlohr são um extrato do projeto que vem desenvolvendo fotografando praças e espaços abertos em Porto Alegre e em diferentes cidades do Rio Grande do Sul. O processo é decorrência de suas obras anteriores, como Familiar Spaces iniciada em 2000, durante seu curso de Mestrado no The Art Institut of Chicago, nos estados Unidos. Desde então seu foco de atenção volta-se para os espaços públicos, seus usos, suas problemáticas e a resistência das áreas verdes. Eisenlohr apresentará uma série de fotografias panorâmicas noturnas captadas com negativos e câmeras de médio formato em longa exposição e também fotografias digitais da mesma série. Elaine Tedesco apresenta extratos de duas séries do mesmo período: Vanitas no jardim na qual o processo envolve levar cópias de fotografias impressas, que fazem parte de seu acervo e, foram anteriormente exibidas, para o jardim de sua casa e lá registra o apagamento dessas imagens. Na outra série - Das ações com a câmera a artista retoma suas investigações com a sobreposição de imagens, realizadas a partir da dupla exposição de negativos nos anos de 2001 / 2003 e que resultaram no livro Sobreposições Imprecisas. O tema, agora, pra essa mostra considera a proximidade do Espaço Cultural Espm com o cemitério Judaico (que fica em frente) e Tedesco criou imagens de dupla exposição num cemitério Judaico em Berlim. http://kw-eisenlohr.de/ |
